Additional Details about the position

• Provides direct patient care and monitors the patient's response to labor, delivery and postpartum phases of pregnancy, with education in breastfeeding as needed.
• Reads/interprets fetal monitor strips and responds appropriately.
• Provides outpatient care: iron infusions, NSTs, assessment of labor, circumcisions, bilirubin checks.
• Promotes wellness for patients during all phases of labor and postpartum through continuous education.
• Provides education and support.
• Documents all events and education.
• Communicates patient condition to the physician and the nursing supervisor.
• Supports other OB staff in maintaining skills and learning new procedures and equipment.
• Provides care of mother/baby couplet.
• Aids mother with breastfeeding.
• Assists physicians with procedures.
• Maintains respectful interactions with patients, physicians, visitors, and co-workers; fosters positive intra- and interdepartmental communications.
• Follows department policies, procedures, and guidelines.

• 2+ years of experience
• Minimum of one year around specialty or acute care preferred or adequate orientation

• Minimum of an associate degree (ADN) from an accredited nursing program
• BLS – certification within 30 days of hire
• ACLS – certification within 60 days of hire
