Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Long Term Care/Skilled Nursing Facility night shift position requiring an ND or compact RN license and prior LTC experience.

Details
  • Work in a 26-bed Long Term Care/Skilled Nursing unit within an acute care hospital setting
  • Patient population commonly presents with heart disease, diabetes, and dementia
  • Nurse-to-resident ratios of 1:10 during the day and 1:19 at night
  • Uses Matrix Care/Matrix EMR for charting
  • 12-hour night shifts on a 7pm-7am schedule
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Every other major holiday coverage required
  • No blocked scheduling or self-scheduling available
  • First to float among staff, though no floating is typically required
  • No on-call or standby requirements
  • No IV or titratable drip management, telemetry monitoring, or on-site respiratory therapy
  • Physician availability is by phone on-call after hours
  • PT available as needed and social worker designee support
  • Oxygen therapy equipment includes concentrators and portable concentrators
  • Pharmacy services are off-site
  • 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
Requirements
  • Active ND state or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior LTC experience required
  • Charge nurse responsibilities including medication administration and wound care
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
  • Act as charge nurse while passing medications and performing wound care
  • Work under DON oversight with no additional nursing supervisors on-site
  • No involvement in interdisciplinary rehab team conferences as the unit is LTC-only with no rehab beds
  • Must maintain a clean and presentable appearance, though no specific scrub color is required
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
  • PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after submission
