LPN / LVN - ER

Profession: License Practical Nurse

Certifications: BLS Certification (AHA)

Must-Have:

ER experience preferred

Understanding of dementia

Stroke knowledge

Skin care for geriatric patient care

Description:

Unit includes a department focusing on medical surgical care.

It is located in a critical access hospital setting.

The nurse-patient ratio consists of a team assignment with 2 RNs at all times on the unit.

Common diagnoses include a mostly geriatric population and general rehab post-surgery.

Previous travel experience is not required.

The unit operates with electronic medical records using an EPIC system.

There is a charge nurse present on each shift who participates in team assignments instead of individual assignments.

Nurse aides or patient care techs are available on each shift to support the nursing staff.

Patient managed CPAP is used as respiratory equipment.

The unit has telemonitor capabilities but does not have dedicated techs.

Self-scheduling is permitted with block scheduling available.

Weekend requirements include every other weekend, with alternating holiday schedules.

There is no on-call or standby requirement associated with this position.

LPNs will remain on the medical surgical floor unless they choose to float with appropriate experience.

Scrubs are provided without specific color requirements.

Orientation consists of 3 shifts specific to one department.

Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius.

Requests for time off should be submitted upfront, with limitations on approval for additional time off.

The facility can cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment.

This position does not require a BSN degree.

A license to practice as an LPN is necessary.

The care setting is acute, and the division is nursing.

Floating is not required, but LPNs may choose to do so if experienced.

Shifts and scheduling include every other weekend and alternating holiday requirements.
