Mechanical Inspectors (CMM & Manual) – Permanent (Senior or Junior)
2great opportunities for Mechanical Inspectors to join this established, growing subcontract precision engineering business. The role involves inspecting high-precision, complex components using both CMM and manual methods. You’ll benefit from an excellent working environment, training and premium-rate overtime.
What you’ll be doing- Inspect mechanical parts and assemblies to ensure they meet drawing and quality requirements.
- Carry out manual inspection using gauges, micrometres and other precision measuring equipment.
- Complete and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Operate CMM equipment to confirm product conformity.
- Programme CMM routines where required (PC‑DMIS preferred; training available).
- Work with Engineering and Production to resolve inspection findings and non-conformances.
- Senior/Experienced Mechanical Inspector: proven inspection background with confidence across manual inspection, FAIRs and CMM programming.
- Junior Mechanical Inspector: candidates with a solid foundation in mechanical inspection—possibly gained through machining, an apprenticeship or a shop-floor manufacturing background—who are keen to develop into a full inspector role. Training and mentoring will be provided.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Manual measurement experience (gauges, micrometres) and ability to interpret engineering drawings (GD&T knowledge beneficial).
- CMM programming experience for senior level; willingness to learn for junior level.
- PC‑DMIS programming experience preferred (training available).
