Overview
In this role, the Deli Department Assistant Manager will assist the Deli Department Manager with all functions of operating a successful department. The Deli Department Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring employees provide remarkable guest service at the deli counter. This individual is a self‑starter who jumps in to assist with slicing, weighing, packaging and labeling of deli items for guests as needed.
Additional duties include accurate recordkeeping, customer service, employee relations, expense control, inventory, shrink, public relations, stocking, and controlling freshness by rotating or removing out‑of‑date merchandise. While in charge of the department, the assistant manager directs staff: workload, counseling, training, performance evaluations, and supervision.
