SummaryThis position serves as administrative and operational support to Airport Security Coordinator functions and is designated as an alternate Airport Security Coordinator for continuity purposes. In this capacity, the role may perform defined Airport Security Coordinator duties when the primary coordinator is unavailable or when specifically directed by airport leadership. The position also provides management-level support to security and police-related administrative functions as authorized.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate with the Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and other external partners in support of security operations and regulatory requirements.
- Support and, when designated, execute routine Airport Security Coordinator duties in accordance with established protocols.
- Manage routine police and security administrative functions, including scheduling, forms, reporting, and workflow tracking when delegated.
- Conduct routine field inspections of curbside areas, checkpoints, sterile areas, and access points to identify compliance issues and operational concerns.
- Track and follow up on regulatory, tenant, and internal compliance deficiencies.
- Assist with preparation for inspections, audits, testing activities, and corrective action follow-up.
- Maintain and update security standard operating procedures, post orders, emergency checklists, and related security documentation.
- Maintain continuity of Airport Security Coordinator operations during absences or as directed.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders under executive and airport leadership supervision.
- Provide management-level assistance to the police department and support non-operational police coordination tasks as authorized.
- Assist with personnel matters, coaching, documentation, onboarding, training coordination, and basic HR workflows.
- Review and correct shift rosters, training schedules, and coverage plans as needed.
- Conduct quality-control reviews of reports, security logs, and badging office documentation.
- Maintain and update the Airport Security Plan as directed.
- Maintain reimbursable and other agreements with Customs and Border Protection as directed.
- Oversee all aspects of the security guard contract.
- Oversee the badging office and all aspects of the secure identification display area badging process, including application review, media issuance, and audit support.
- Oversee security camera and access control systems.
- Procure department materials and coordinate required security training.
- Create daily, monthly, and annual reports related to badging activities using security and access‑control systems.
- Review existing identification system applications for law enforcement inquiries and investigations.
- Track lost badges, collect associated penalties where applicable, and generate required operational training reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Directly supervises badging office staff and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and security‑ or facilities‑related management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively with outside contractors and agencies.
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions related to secure facilities, construction activity, and operational environments.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, including the use of a computer and reporting systems.
- Ability to successfully obtain and maintain the required airport security clearance for access to secure areas and terminal facilities.
