Summary
This position serves as administrative and operational support to Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) functions and is designated as an alternate ASC for continuity purposes. In this capacity, the role may perform defined ASC duties when the primary ASC is unavailable or when explicitly directed by airport leadership. The position may also provide limited administrative support to police/security functions as authorized. All responsibilities are performed under airport authority oversight and applicable regulatory direction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Customs & Border Protection (CBP), including conducting periodic coordination meetings, preparing reports, and informing leadership
- Support and, when designated, execute routine ASC duties in accordance with established protocols
- Manage routine police administrative functions (scheduling, forms, reporting) as delegated
- Conduct field inspections (curbside, checkpoints, sterile areas, SIDA access points) for compliance
- Track and follow up on TSA, CBP, and tenant compliance deficiencies
- Assist with TSA inspections, undercover tests, and audits
- Maintain and update security SOPs, post orders, and emergency checklists
- Ensure continuity of ASC operations as directed
- Prepare, manage, and track ASC-related documentation and communications
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders
- Provide management-level assistance to police operations as directed
- Support non-operational police coordination tasks as authorized
- Assist with personnel issues, coaching, documentation, and basic HR workflows
- Coordinate onboarding and training for security and police personnel
- Review and adjust shift rosters, training schedules, and coverage plans
- Conduct quality-control reviews of reports, logs, and badge office documentation
- Maintain and update the Airport Security Plan (ASP) as directed
- Maintain reimbursable and other agreements with federal partners as directed
- Oversee the security guard contract
- Oversee the Badging Office, including full administration of the SIDA badging process and TSA audits
- Oversee security camera and access control systems
- Procure departmental materials
- Schedule and conduct security training
- Prepare daily, monthly, and annual reports using systems such as CCure or equivalent
- Review security m applications for law enforcement inquiries
- Track lost badges and administer associated penalties
- Generate monthly reports related to training and credentialing
- Perform other duties as assigned
Directly supervises Security . Responsible for direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned personnel. Duties include training, assigning work, performance management, and resolving employee issues in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects and external contractors
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to operate in high-pressure and emergency situations
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and risk management
- Knowledge of airport emergency procedures
- Thorough knowledge of 49 CFR Part 139, and 49 CFR Parts 1542 and 1544
- Ability to complete and maintain TSA/FAA background checks, including fingerprinting and CHRC
- Valid driver’s license and insurability
- Professional and cooperative demeanor
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Criminal Justice, or related field required
- Minimum of five (5) years of public safety experience
- Experience with National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) (IS-700, IS-800, IS-801, IS-840, IS-950, IS-970, IS-1100, IS-105)
- Squatting, kneeling, stooping, and lifting
- Use of hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment
- Extended periods of sitting and computer use
- Exposure to extreme cold and outdoor conditions
- Work at heights (lifts, roofs, ladders)
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Repeated lifting up to 50 pounds
