Rigger Journeyman

Rigger Journeyman – Bison Generation Station – Ray, North Dakota (Job Number: 966152)

This is a new construction power plant.

• Experience in the industrial construction industry (petrochemical, power plant, cement plant) or related field, with four or more years of experience as a rigger.
• Review blueprints, schematic drawings, and lift plans to determine work procedures.
• Ensure all rigging equipment is in good working condition.
• Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms using correct bolts and clamps.
• Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.
• Set up braces and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
• Must be Advanced Rigger certified.

• Strong math knowledge and skills as related to the job tasks. Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
• Able to effectively use verbal and written communication skills.
• A general knowledge of standard rigging procedures and OSHA standards.
• Sound knowledge of rigging skills.
• Able to use a tag line to position and control materials and equipment.
• Able to read, understand, and follow lift plans.
• Know and understand industry standard signals for flagging lifting equipment.
• Have basic knot tying skills.
• Understand and use all crane hand signals.
• A thorough knowledge of the standard methods of safely rigging and lifting equipment and materials such as structural steel, pipe conduit, vessels, rotating equipment, heaters, etc.
• Successfully complete the appropriate PCL skills assessment tests.
• Able to work in cold weather.
• Must be able to pass Drug and Alcohol test.
• Minimum of 48+ verified work experience within the craft.
• Must have OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 or the Safety Essential.
