Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading a roustabout crew in the performance of various oilfield services, including new well construction, maintenance, and other roustabout work. Roustabouts use a variety of equipment that may include (but may not be limited to) tractors, trucks, trailers, and maintenance equipment. Provides hands‑on guidance to roustabout laborers and ensures efficient operation of all jobs by managing their crew.

Both the roustabout crew pusher and roustabout laborers utilize various tools/equipment to perform each job. Duties include (but may not be limited to) digging trenches, pouring concrete, installing/repairing fencing, laying, threading, and fitting pipe. Facilities and other general well‑site construction items are to be performed according to site plans by installing and using valves, pumps, separators, fittings, and other oilfield‑related equipment.

Construct barrier walls, compressor sheds, fences, and other general construction items for well sites. Assemble or repair pipelines, flow lines, discharge lines, and plumb all devices. Rig, and assist in setting loads, separators, or tanks being moved by cranes or hydraulic lifts. Perform location cleanup, maintenance, and other housekeeping tasks as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides ongoing training, supervision, and development for roustabouts, ensuring that the crew performs their job in the most efficient and productive manner possible.
  • Provides transportation to/from the job site as necessary for the crew, utilizing a company vehicle and a trailer if needed, which may require a commercial driver's license. Regularly cleans, inspects, and maintains company vehicle and all other equipment that may be assigned by collaborating closely with mechanics/supervisors.
  • Secures and safely transports equipment needed for the job, according to company policy and DOT regulations.
  • Ensures the crew has all required safety and work equipment necessary, as well as ensuring all equipment and PPE is inspected and regularly cleaned or maintained for proper function and safe use.
  • Properly completes and documents a Job Safety Analysis and Pre‑Job Safety Meeting regarding hazards when arriving at a work location ‑ prior to starting each job.
  • Properly completes and submits field tickets or other documents showing work time for the crew.
  • Communicates effectively and regularly with field management regarding jobs, hazards, needs, employees, etc.
  • Complies with all company and location safety/DOT policies to work safely in a potentially hazardous environment.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Supervises activities of roustabout laborers to ensure employee skill development and safety.
  • Sets pumping units, batteries, and treaters; performs maintenance work on wells, pumping units, and treaters.
  • Can troubleshoot equipment, ensuring it is functioning and operating properly.
  • Is capable and resourceful in lining up equipment for consecutive jobs requested by the customer.
  • Ensures quality products and services are provided to the customer.
  • Has knowledge of equipment and tools commonly used in the oil gas industry.
  • Possesses basic math knowledge used in common calculations.
  • Is professional and motivated to complete all tasks assigned.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Safely operates all vehicles and equipment involved in roustabout work.
  • Has working knowledge and can use computers and software such as Microsoft Office, email, timekeeping programs, invoicing, etc.
  • Effectively communicates with other employees, managers, and all other relevant third parties involved with the jobs performed, including typing, speaking, reading, writing, and hearing.
Education & Experience – Basic
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory roustabout pusher experience.
  • Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Basic understanding of construction/roustabout tools and procedures.
Education & Experience – Preferred
  • 3 years supervisory roustabout pusher experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL.
