Job Summary
ONEOK is seeking a Senior Mechanic in Watford City, North Dakota to perform advanced mechanical work on natural gas compression and related equipment supporting compressor, pipeline, gathering, storage, fractionation and/or gas processing operations. The role focuses on servicing, troubleshooting, maintaining, installing and repairing natural gas engines, compressors, pumps, generators, turbines, valves, and other fixed or rotating equipment critical to safe and reliable operations.
The candidate must live within approximately one hour of the reporting location.
Perform mechanical work on fixed and rotating equipment at various locations, including but not limited to:
- Internal combustion, diesel, natural gas powered engines and electrical drivers
- Compressors, pumps, generators, turbines, valves, electrical equipment, and well equipment
Additional responsibilities include:
- Service, troubleshoot, maintain, install and repair structural, mechanical, electrical, and/or well equipment
- Conduct and interpret performance analyses, including emissions testing
- Train and direct employees involved in mechanical work
- Order and secure parts and supplies
- Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles
Maintain and interpret reports and records, including but not limited to:
- Work logs and service orders
- Inspection reports
- Engine/equipment maintenance and repair records
- Pressure readings
- Material and supply orders
- Engine and compressor oil analysis reports
Education:
None required.
Experience:
- Use and function of hand and power tools applicable to the position
- Advanced knowledge servicing, maintaining and repairing equipment
- Familiarity with company and/or governmental operating and safety policies and procedures
- Advanced troubleshooting experience and failure mode analysis
- Reading and interpreting work orders, drawings, charts, diagrams, gauges, warranties, quotations, procedures and equipment manuals
- Preparation, processing and verification of records, safety and environmental reports, diagrams and material and supply orders
Skills and Abilities
- Ordering and securing parts and supplies
- Basic arithmetic and use of decimals and percentages
- Communication and exchange of information and instructions
- Work in confined areas
- React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others
- Operate tools and equipment
- Perform precise tuning/timing work
- Use fine motor skills for minute adjustments

Physical Demands:
Medium. Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently; must stand, walk, sit, lift, carry, push, pull, climb occasionally; balance and stoop occasionally; reach, handle and finger dexterity constantly; talk and hear frequently; near and far vision constantly; color vision constant. Medical clearance may be required.
Employees may be in well‑lit, climate‑controlled indoor areas or outdoors with weather exposure, wet or humid conditions, extreme cold or heat, dust, fumes, gases, moving mechanical parts, potential electrical shock, vibration, loud noises, heights, repetitive motion and monitoring computer systems.
TravelTravel to other locations is required. Use of company vehicle may be necessary based on assigned tasks.
Compensation and BenefitsExpected Salary Range: $84,000.00 – $. In addition to ONEOK’s comprehensive rewards package, the position includes a $1,500 monthly geographic allowance, 6% profit sharing and an 8% short‑term incentive opportunity.
