The Field Service Technician provides on-site service and repair for customer equipment, taking ownership of a designated territory while delivering exceptional customer support. Working independently, this role uses advanced diagnostic and precision agriculture technology to troubleshoot equipment issues, minimize downtime, and help customers stay productive. Job Responsibilities- Perform diagnostics and repairs on equipment and technology in the field.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of parts kept in stock on the service vehicle.
- Identify and communicate solutions for customer service opportunities within your area of responsibility.
- Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
- Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders, ensuring timely submission of information.
- Participate in Service Training programs for skills and knowledge development.
- Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Stay current on knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
- 5+ years of experience performing service repairs.
- Experience performing repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on machines of the Technician’s specialty.
- Proficient with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Proficiency with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
- John Deere Service Technician certification is preferred.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- Forklift license is preferred.
