Hankinson School District 8
The Hankinson Public School is in urgent need of a bus driver for the start of the school year. If you are willing to drive for just the morning or just the afternoon it would be an immense help. We have a smaller bus that could be used until a driver is able to secure a license for a regular bus.
Not having a driver could result in one of or more of the following:
1) elimination of one of the routes,
2) elimination of all city stops,
3) extending ride times for all riders,
4) having all rural riders meet the bus at specific locations to reduce the length of the routes. Please consider becoming a driver for the 2024‑25 school year.
- Drive daily morning and afternoon routes during school sessions (approximately 7:00‑8:15 am and 3:15‑4:45 pm).
- Serve as a route driver for a 9‑month position.
- Follow state licensing and safety rules.
- Complete criminal background check and obtain a valid CDL with passenger school bus endorsement (the school district will cover expenses to obtain the license).
- Receive and follow training, including study guide, practice with a current driver, and preparation for the driving exam.
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment and manage student behavior as directed by principals. Any persistent behaviors may result in student removal from the route for a period of time.
Paid $88.95 per day, plus $0.20 per mile. A $500 incentive is awarded if the driver drives 165 or more days during the school year.
Qualifications- Valid CDL with passenger school bus endorsement, or ability to obtain one within the required timeframe.
- Completion of a criminal background check.
- Ability to handle student behavior and willingness to work within the support structure of the school principals.
