Traffic Technicians & Drivers Needed
- Traffic Control Technicians and Drivers understand the DOT requirements, contract items, the contractor’s proposed operations, and Part VI of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
- Ensure presence on site for layout, installation, and removal of traffic control devices when switching and returning traffic on interstate projects.
- Proficient in reading maps, traffic control plans, and specifications.
- Inspect and confirm delivery of devices, including replacements, before installation; engage in proper set‑up, adjustment, tear‑down, removal, pickup, and maintenance of traffic control devices.
- Review the project daily and within 24 hours after each change in the traffic control setup.
- Propose changes to improve traffic flow through the work zone.
- Provide a 24‑hour contact number to the engineer and return calls within two hours.
- Assist with manufacturing different types of signs and traffic control devices.
- Know how to call in locates.
- Possess working knowledge of hand tools, small power tools, signals, and message boards.
- Perform minor repairs on equipment as needed.
- Have a valid driver’s license (CDL may be required in North Dakota; Class A with combo vehicle endorsement is a plus).
- Drive the company vehicle to and from job sites safely.
- Operate forklift, skid‑steer, and small walk‑behind grinders.
- Lift, carry, and stack materials and traffic control devices.
- May be asked to supervise, assist, and train new hires with traffic control responsibilities as needed.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Report to Crew Foreman or Operations Manager; assist any or all departments, such as striping, traffic control, and sign shop.
- Conduct yourself in a professional, team‑player manner; be self‑motivated, organized, and positive.
- Show respect for the workplace and co‑workers.
- Maintain a clean shop, yard, equipment, and vehicle.
- Have a clean driving record.
- Load, safely secure, and unload trucks, trailers, and equipment independently.
- Operate motor vehicle, hook up trailers, and back up trailers.
- Wash and clean vehicles and devices used on the job site.
- Inspect, maintain, fuel, and stock truck, equipment, and vehicles assigned to jobs.
- Have good oral and written English communication skills with co‑workers, customers, contractors, and engineers.
- Work week varies; overtime is required and expected.
- Organize and maintain inventory.
- Have basic math skills, including the ability to read a tape measure.
- Maintain a clean job site.
- Work environment noise is usually moderate to loud.
- Job regularly requires walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, moving equipment and machinery parts, moving traffic, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Prepare and submit required daily logs, time sheets, pull sheets, usage sheets, and job‑site paperwork that are neat, complete, and accurate; submit receipts on time.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Wages start with hourly pay/salary based on experience.
- All other duties as assigned.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable communication to receive work schedule.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain.
- Pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug‑free status.
- Be able to stand throughout the shift; hand and arm movement required.
- The position does not allow for frequent breaks.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Be physically capable to perform all flagging duties.
