In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Executive Director or the Director, the Project Director develops departmental strategies required to maintain application and systems life cycles and respond to emerging customer needs. The Project Director provides leadership for all activities associated with the development of plans, budgets and implementation of the departments projects. Assigned projects are integral parts of the Island Health IM/IT Strategic Plan and work involves the review of business processes across the Authority to recommend priority and ensure the integration required to support implementation across Island Health.
The Project Director is responsible for management of the logistics of the assigned projects. The position has responsibility for the delivery of a portfolio of assigned projects within the scope of the annual plan, and the direct responsibility for managing resources, project budgets, the development of and adherence to project plans, project changes, risk management, corporate project communications and reporting to the appropriate program director or executive director.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Health Information Science or Computer Science.
At least seven years' experience working within or directly with a health care system including a minimum of 5 years' experience leading major projects with a budget in excess of $10M. Knowledge of, and experience with working with the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) methodology.
