Overview

Yale New Haven Hospital is seeking an accomplished academic podiatric foot and ankle surgeon to serve as the Program Director of its CPME-accredited Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program. This is a unique opportunity to join one of the nation's premier academic health systems and help shape the education and development of future podiatric surgeons.

As Program Director, you'll provide strategic and educational leadership for a well-established residency program while maintaining an active clinical practice. The role is ideal for a physician who is passionate about resident education, mentorship, academic medicine, and advancing innovation in podiatric surgery. You'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary faculty across Yale New Haven Health and the Yale School of Medicine, contributing to excellence in patient care, research, and physician training.

Responsibilities
  • Educational Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the residency program.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance a comprehensive competency-based curriculum in podiatric medicine and foot and ankle surgery.
  • Foster resident development in clinical judgment, surgical technique, professionalism, communication, and lifelong learning.
  • Promote scholarly activity, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
  • Create a culture of educational excellence, innovation, patient safety, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Program Administration
  • Direct the overall administration of the residency program.
  • Maintain compliance with all Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) accreditation standards, Yale New Haven Health policies, and Yale School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education requirements.
  • Oversee resident recruitment, orientation, evaluations, promotion, remediation, graduation, and disciplinary processes.
  • Supervise the Residency Program Coordinator and ensure efficient day-to-day operation of the residency program.
  • Lead annual program evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Clinical Education
  • Coordinate resident clinical rotations throughout Yale New Haven Health and affiliated training institutions.
  • Ensure comprehensive operative and clinical experience across the full spectrum of podiatric medicine and foot and ankle surgery, including reconstructive surgery, trauma, diabetic limb preservation, sports medicine, wound care, and complex foot and ankle pathology.
  • Collaborate with faculty to maximize educational opportunities and progressive surgical responsibility.
  • Promote interdisciplinary education and collaborative patient care throughout the Yale New Haven Health System.
  • Faculty Development
  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain faculty committed to excellence in graduate medical education.
  • Foster faculty participation in teaching, mentorship, curriculum development, resident evaluation, scholarly activity, and educational innovation.
  • Support faculty development through mentorship and continuing educational opportunities.
