DescriptionACES Mill Road School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and collaborative Special Education Teacher to join our K–8 educational team. Mill Road School serves students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs through highly individualized, trauma-informed programming designed to help every student achieve academic, behavioral, and personal success.
Our educators create structured, engaging learning environments where students develop confidence, independence, and the skills necessary to thrive both in school and beyond. Working alongside behavior analysts, social workers, related service providers, and instructional support staff, teachers play a vital role in fostering a safe, restorative, and inclusive school community.

Connecticut teacher certification in special education required. Will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in a Special Education Teacher preparation program and are eligible for a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP).
Other Qualifications:
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of the facilitation of reading, writing, and mathematics
- Demonstrates knowledge of standards based instruction and reporting
- Establishes and maintains an environment conducive to learning with groups and individuals
Assessment:
- Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to use current and/or appropriate assessment instruments and practices
- Develops clear and specific written documentation of assessment results
- Participates in the on-going evaluation of students
- Maintains on-going assessment of learner progress through written documentation
