Salary Range $24.49 - $27.85 Hourly Position Type Full Time
DescriptionACES Mill Road School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and dependable full-time Teacher Assistant/Driver to support students in our K–8 special education program. Our school serves students with a wide range of social, emotional, behavioral, and learning needs in a trauma-informed, highly collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will provide classroom support under the direction of certified staff while also safely transporting students to and from school and community-based learning experiences.
Responsibilities include:
- Support students individually and in small groups with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional learning.
- Assist teachers in implementing instructional activities and behavior support plans.
- Foster positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations and a safe, supportive learning environment.
- Support students with transitions, daily routines, and classroom organization.
- Safely transport students using school vehicles while maintaining professionalism and ensuring student safety at all times.
- Complete required transportation documentation and communicate effectively with school staff regarding student needs.
- Work collaboratively with the team.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all ACES policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to meet ACES driver requirements.
- Experience working with children, preferably students with special education needs.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn positive behavior management strategies and trauma-informed practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates creativity, initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting student success.
