ACES is seeking a long‑term substitute for a Speech and Language Pathologist to work with students with a wide range of communication disorders at our ACES Village School.

Position begins January 5, 2026 and ends October 1, 2026. This position includes the Extended School Year in July. Fall programming begins in the third week of August.

Individuals experienced working with low‑incident populations (Autism, Multiple Disability, social/behavioral/emotional challenges) are encouraged to apply.

Strong candidates will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong collaboration skills, and experience in administering a variety of diagnostic assessments, writing reports, and presenting cessful candidates will provide direct and/or consultative services, both in small groups and/or within the general education setting, according to the needs of the child.

The successful candidate will provide services for elementary and middle school students with IEPs.

Essential Job Functions

Essential job functions include but are not limited to writing IEP goals and objectives, conducting standardized assessments, collaborating with colleagues to improve student outcomes (both special education and general education staff), filing Medicaid reimbursement requests, maintaining logs of services provided, and any other tasks assigned by supervisor.

  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Experience working with school students including academic content, lesson modification, and delivery of services within an inclusive environment.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
  • Assist students to acquire an age‑norm and appropriate level of communicative skill for success.
  • Provide consultation to classroom teachers to help students carry over skills learned through delivery of clinician services.
  • Perform diagnostic testing and assessment of referred individual learners.
  • Work with parents of children receiving speech therapy, providing ongoing communication and involving parents in the carryover process.
  • Participate in planning and placement meetings where the identification of a child as eligible for special education and related services is considered.
  • Conduct assessments, testing, and diagnostic evaluations of students to identify learning issues and recommend courses of action or corrective procedures to overcome issues and maximize learning.
  • Write and implement individual educational plans and provide ongoing evaluation of progress toward the goals and objectives of an approved individual educational plan.
Qualifications

Required Certification &

Qualifications:

  • Licensed by the Connecticut State Department of Health as a Speech Pathologist – #061.
  • Possess a certificate of clinical competence in Speech/Language Pathology.
