** A Day in the Life
** As a Controls Engineer at Medtronic, you are the primary technical expert responsible for designing, optimizing, implementing, and validating automated manufacturing processes. You will troubleshoot complex electromechanical failures, ensuring that high-speed production equipment—from simple relays to advanced servo robotics and machine vision systems—operates at peak efficiency while adhering strictly to regulated quality standards.

** Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
*** Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
* Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
* Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
* Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
* May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
* Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
* Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
* Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
* Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
** Must Have:

Minimum Requirements

** Requires a Baccalaureate degree and 0 years relevant experience.
** Nice to Have
*** Experience with industrial automation platforms such as Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs, including associated HMI or SCADA systems (e.g., Factory Talk, Ignition).
* Strong proficiency in PLC programming languages such as Ladder Logic and Structured Text, including implementation of sequential control logic.
* Experience troubleshooting industrial networks and communication protocols such as Ether Net/IP (CIP), Profinet, and Modbus TCP.
* Experience designing and implementing electrically safe industrial control panels using relays, contractors, and various I/O modules, including integration of dedicated safety circuits.
* Exposure to robotics, motion control systems, or automated manufacturing equipment.
* Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments such as medical device, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industries.
* Knowledge of electrical schematics and experience using electrical CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
* Familiarity with industrial sensing technologies and automation components.
* Exposure to Lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, or continuous improvement methodologies.
