The Senior Engineering Manager – Automation is a full-time, on-site role based in North Haven, CT. This role leads a team of automation and controls engineers responsible for designing, developing, and improving automated manufacturing and test equipment for medical device production. The manager oversees project planning, resource allocation, and execution, ensuring that automation solutions meet safety, quality, regulatory, and reliability requirements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding technical decisions, reviewing system architectures, supporting equipment commissioning, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across production lines. The role also collaborates closely with operations, quality, regulatory, and cross-functional R&D teams to align automation strategies with business goals, manage vendor relationships, and support troubleshooting of complex equipment issues.

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering teams, including mentoring, performance management, and resource planning.
• Strong background in automation engineering, such as PLCs, robotics, motion control, sensors, vision systems, or industrial control systems.
• Experience with automated manufacturing or test equipment, including design, integration, validation, and ongoing support in a high-volume or regulated environment.
• Knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries (e.g., FDA, ISO, GMP).
• Proven ability to manage complex projects, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and cross-functional stakeholder communication.
• Proficiency in data-driven problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical partners.
• Ability to work on-site in North Haven, CT and collaborate effectively in a manufacturing and laboratory environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or related field); an advanced degree is preferred.
• Experience in medical device or healthcare technology manufacturing is strongly preferred; experience introducing new products to automated production is a plus.
