The Packaging Engineer’s purpose is to create and innovate packaging of new products/processes and support their implementation in multiple manufacturing facilities. The person will be based at the Medtronic facility located in North Haven, Connecticut.
A Day in the LifeIn this role you will support sterile and non‑sterile medical device packaging design, ensuring alignment with applicable requirements and guidance. You will lead cross‑functional review meetings, provide engineering support to R&D, and create, revise and maintain packaging specifications and documentation.
Responsibilities- Identify and support cost reduction opportunities in packaging.
- Provide technical support and training to manufacturing on packaging systems and machinery.
- Prepare packaging validation protocols and reports to support changes.
- Perform packaging validation testing to support changes.
- Support material qualifications for packaging changes such as resin material changes.
- Create and update packaging specifications for manufacturing.
- Assist in artwork creation and revisions for product packaging.
- Operate various testing apparatus in qualifying packaging changes.
- Create sterilization pallet patterns and non‑sterile pallet patterns for manufacturing locations.
- Contribute to Project Engineering and R&D schedules and plans.
- Prepare monthly progress reports on projects.
- Provide work direction to lab technicians as required.
- Conduct review meetings with multiple facilities regarding packaging issues.
- Provide support to various departments such as R&D regarding packaging issues.
- 2+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 0+ years of experience with an advanced degree.
- Packaging Engineering knowledge.
- Ability to prepare written policies, procedures, proposals and reports.
- Effective communication skills with both superiors and subordinates.
- Ability to plan and document projects effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects by way of good organizational skills.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Benefits & CompensationSalary ranges for U.S. (excluding PR) locations: $80,000.00 – $. This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California.
