Job SummaryThe Senior Manufacturing Engineer provides technical leadership and daily manufacturing support for multiple product families within the Stapling product portfolio. This role focuses on maintaining and improving product quality, optimizing product cost, and advancing manufacturing processes while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The engineer partners with cross‑functional teams to support production, lead root cause investigations, qualify components, and implement process improvements.
Additionally, the role drives project execution and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and manufacturing performance.
The position requires a minimum of five days a week onsite to support collaborative engineering and production activities.
Responsibilities- Support in‑service operating systems to ensure continued operation, maintenance, and optimization throughout.
- Determine, select, and implement technically feasible and economically viable alternatives for sustainment.
- Analyze and evaluate ways to improve a system and/or equipment's sustainability under continued operation, maintenance, and unexpected change.
- Develop design changes to resolve operational issues, introduce new materials, and revise product, process, and test specifications to enhance product quality, design integrity, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Collect and evaluate service use and maintenance data; conduct root‑cause analyses of in‑service problems (e.g., operational hazards, deficiency reports, parts obsolescence, corrosion effects, reliability and maintainability trends, safety hazards, and failure causes and effects) and implement corrective action.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a technical field and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR a master’s degree in engineering, science, or a technical field with minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR a PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
- Knowledge of ERP (BPCS) system.
- Experience with Agile software for change development / change management processes.
- Experience with automated / semi‑automated inspection systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
- Experience with automated / semi‑automated assembly processes.
- Experience in manufacturing processes (stamping, machining, metal injection molding, plastic injection molding).
- Experience in continuous improvement, process control, GD&T.
- Engineering degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
- Background in manufacturing design, efficient and productive layout of machines and processes.
- For baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Benefits & CompensationSalary range (U.S. excluding Puerto Rico): $ - $. This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on experience, certification, market conditions, and location.
