Overview
The R&D Engineer II will report to the Wound Management R&D Team and focus on development of new wound closure products to meet customer needs and expand the product line.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot, and provide technical expertise during research and/or product development.
- Design studies to investigate root causes or identify process parameters.
- Support product development activities.
- Provide feedback on machine design and prototypes.
- Design fixtures for manufacturing equipment or testing.
- Create prototype test samples.
- Support voice of customer and pre‑clinical studies.
- Prepare and track test samples.
- Assist in DOE planning and execution.
- Perform statistical analysis and present results.
- Compose engineering reports.
- Research technical and procedural topics and report findings to groups.
- Conduct work in R&D laboratories and manufacturing facilities.
- Minimum education:
Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of experience, or Advanced Degree with 0+ years of experience. - Preferred degrees:
Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering. - Practical experience in: suture/needle test methods, equipment or test fixture design, polymer development and manufacturing, fiber extrusion, textile manufacturing, material characterization, and development/manufacturing of combination products.
- Experience in the medical device industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality technical work within project schedules and timelines.
- Team‑oriented approach and strong communication skills, both verbal and written, across cross‑functional and global teams.
