Technician III - Non-Exempt

Job Title

• Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia, web-based publications and user sites.
• Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
• Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for technical users.
• Design, develop, and maintain service manual using Mad Cap Flare and Adobe Frame Maker® software applications.
• Control service manual versioning and maintain the service manual archives.
• Create easy-to-understand online user interface text, help, and training guides.
• Perform the administrative documentation tasks required to establish and track the service manual in a Product Lifecycle Management system.
• Continuously evaluate business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and implement improvements.
• Standardize content across platforms and media. All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.
• Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations.
• Works independently with general supervision on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Occasional domestic and international travel may be required. Travel requirement:
  Less than 10%.

• BS / BA in a technical science, English, or Journalism.

• 2 years of technical writing or technical editing experience in a technical publications group.

• Advanced experience with Mad Cap Flare software or Adobe Frame Maker®, and experience with Structured Authoring using XML and content management solutions.
• Advanced experience with Adobe Acrobat® and Photo Shop® software, vector graphics software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator® or Core Draw) and HTML.
• Strong organizational skills.
