The Indirect Supply Management (ISM) organization is a key driver of enterprise value across Medtronic, responsible for advancing sourcing strategies, supplier partnerships, operational excellence, and cost optimization across the company's global indirect spend portfolio. ISM partners with business leaders worldwide to strengthen supply continuity, accelerate innovation, improve working capital, and unlock sustainable value hin Indirect Supply Management (ISM), the MRO & Capex Sourcing function drives global category strategy, supplier performance, and value creation across Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO), Capital Equipment (Capex), and manufacturing-related services.
Supporting 60 manufacturing sites worldwide and influencing more than $700 million in annual spend, the team partners closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operational Excellence leaders to strengthen supply continuity, optimize costs, improve operational performance, and drive enterprise-wide transformation.
As the Senior Director, MRO & Capex Sourcing, you will lead a global team of 20 sourcing professionals and oversee the strategy, supplier management, and transformational programs that support Medtronic's global manufacturing network. You will drive initiatives that enhance supplier performance, standardization, operational efficiency, working capital, and long-term value creation while partnering with senior manufacturing and functional leaders to advance business priorities.
Through leadership of strategic sourcing programs and organizational development, you will help shape the future of indirect supply management and deliver measurable impact across the enterprise. This role may be based at a major Medtronic office location, with Minneapolis preferred. This is an onsite position requiring regular in-office collaboration with business partners and leadership teams. Travel of approximately 10-30% domestically and internationally is expected.
Responsibilities
- Lead global sourcing strategies for MRO, Capital Equipment, and Manufacturing Services categories across approximately 60 manufacturing sites worldwide.
- Develop and execute category strategies that improve total cost of ownership, supplier performance, commercial terms, and spend under management.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain leaders to identify and deliver enterprise value creation opportunities.
- Direct complex supplier negotiations, contract strategies, supplier business reviews, and preferred supplier programs to improve commercial outcomes and supplier performance.
- Lead cross-functional transformation initiatives focused on manufacturing efficiency, spend optimization, cost reduction, and working capital improvement.
- Oversee sourcing pipelines and performance metrics to achieve annual savings, cost avoidance, productivity, and working capital objectives.
- Build, lead, and develop a geographically dispersed global sourcing organization through coaching, talent development, and performance management.
- Champion data-driven decision making through category analytics, supplier performance measurement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree with 15 years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, infrastructure, manufacturing, or a related business function with 10+ years of managerial experience; OR an advanced degree with 13 years of the same experience.
- Experience leading supplier negotiations, commercial strategy development, and contract management activities.
- Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver large-scale sourcing, operational, or business improvement initiatives.
