Cowles and Company, is a leading manufacturer in the heating industry (oil, gas and biofuel burners + safety controls for residential, commercial and industrial heating) and extruded plastic products for automotive and medical applications. Located in North Haven, Connecticut in a 220,000 sq. ft. facility housing the factory, laboratory and office space. The divisions maintain leadership roles in the industries they serve.

Summary
:
Welds metal components together with MIG and TIG equipment to fabricate or repair products made from sheet metal, including stainless steel and mild steel.

• Performs welding operations on a wide range of metals and thicknesses.
• Involves precision assemblies requiring welding to high strength.
• Regulates current and voltage for proper penetration and fusion of metals; selects electrode type and size.
• Fuses dissimilar metals to obtain maximum weld strength and minimize distortion.
• Skilled with MIG and TIG welding equipment.
• Plans work from drawings or other specifications.
• Reports materials, equipment or process problems to the supervisor.
• Performs a variety of operations within the department to maintain workflow.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other similar or related duties as required or directed.

• Education/
  
  Experience:
  
  Technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and depth perception. The role requires standing, sitting, stretching, reaching, walking, and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.   Strong English communication skills;
  Spanish is a plus but not mandatory. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Work Environment: Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles.
