We are currently supporting a specialist firearms manufacturing and gunsmithing organisation in the search for an experienced CNC Maintenance Mechanic to join their growing manufacturing operation.
The company operates within the precision firearms and gunsmithing industry, combining skilled craftsmanship with modern CNC machining and manufacturing technology. The business produces high-precision components and products where machine reliability, accuracy and consistency are critical to the finished product.
This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance professional who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and has a strong understanding of CNC machinery, Fanuc controls and industrial troubleshooting.
The Opportunity You will play a key role in keeping the company's CNC and production equipment operating efficiently, carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance while diagnosing issues across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and CNC systems.
The role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys working autonomously and solving problems independently. The long-term objective is for you to become the primary maintenance resource supporting the 2nd shift, giving you significant responsibility and ownership over the equipment and production floor.
You will initially train on 1st shift, approximately 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, before transitioning to 2nd shift once you have built confidence with the machinery and processes. This is expected to be around 6 weeks, although the timing will depend on your experience and development.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance across CNC and manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot Fanuc CNC controls and machine-related issues.
- Diagnose electrical faults involving motors, drives, power supplies, wiring, switches and relays.
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems including gears, chains, sprockets and bearings.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with engineers, operators and supervisors to maximise machine uptime.
- Support equipment installations, moves and upgrades.
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance activities.
- Work with external machine tool technicians when required.
- Maintain a safe, clean and efficient manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of CNC maintenance experience.
- Strong knowledge of Fanuc CNC controls.
- Experience working with CNC mills or lathes; predominantly 2- or 3-axis equipment.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong hand and power tool skills.
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions without constant supervision.
- Manufacturing or machining experience within a production environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
$32ph-$38ph
15% Shift Diffrential
12pm-8pm or 2pm-10pm
