Job Overview

The Business Development Manager will manage the sales process, advance profitable sales growth, and oversee customer acquisition and retention within an assigned market area for new Airgas customers. They will meet and surpass organizational and regional milestones, manage accounts receivable, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure success.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sales plans aligned with Airgas’ initiatives and guidelines to secure orders and establish new accounts.
  • Qualify and engage sales leads, nurturing customer relationships through a consultative approach.
  • Prepare sales proposals, including pricing, credit terms, and estimated delivery dates based on production and logistics knowledge.
  • Stay current with industry insights, product mixes, pricing, new products, and market trends to provide informed solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal resources to achieve success milestones and maintain consistent communication with relevant departments
  • Submit sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analyses) via SAP as requested by the District Manager.
  • Review and manage Accounts Receivable balances to protect Airgas working capital and mitigate financial risk.
Required Qualifications
  • Reliable transportation, current driver's license, and minimum liability insurance as required by state vehicle registration.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Google Suites.
  • Minimum 3 years of outside business-to-business sales experience, including proven solution‑selling and territory management.
  • Knowledge of customer segmentation and ability to prioritize high‑value customers.
  • Demonstrated success using a consultative sales approach to create value for customers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases or experience in industrial gas & welding supply sales.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (4 years) of work experience.
