The Chemist will work in a Moisture Testing Laboratory to support various established testing methods. The responsibilities of this position include sample preparation, instrument setup, sample testing, and data analysis for various methods including but not limited to: UV-Visible spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography, and Karl Fischer Moisture Analysis.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate effectively with team members.
  • Perform sample preparation, testing, data analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with peers to manage the development of appropriate testing to verify product meets customer requirements.
  • Recognize common and uncommon problems of moderate scope and complexity when they occur.
  • Use standard techniques, theories, and tools to identify and develop solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Adhere to safety policy procedures.
  • Execute testing protocols and perform testing in accordance with relevant internal SOPs and development process controls.
Top 3 technical skills that are required for the role:
  • Proficiency in Karl Fischer titration, preferably with testing absorbable sutures and materials
  • Ability to troubleshoot analytical instrumentation
  • Experience with analytical test method development
Must Have:

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required

  • Basic knowledge of medical device industry including clinical and regulatory pathways.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication/listening skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong commitment to quality and to the workplace with the ability to efficiently multitask.
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented thinker who possesses a “can do” and “whatever it takes” attitude, coupled with excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory instruments and computer software skills.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and protocols for safe handling and disposal of hazardous agents, reagents, chemicals, and materials.
Education Required:

Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline
