Position Overview
As a Fleet Preventative Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for ensuring the continued functionality and longevity of the trailers within the Fleet Maintenance Department. You will be responsible for ensuring all repairs are documented and aligned with OSHA – state and federal policies as well as company policies to drive a safe working environment and culture.
Responsibilities- Performing inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of Reefer trailers and lift gates – reporting to leadership for additional repairs
- Completing all necessary paperwork, equipment inspection forms, and other documents accurately and timely, using professional verbiage
- Perform PM on all assigned trailers to include but not limited to; refrigeration (excluding 608 certification requirements), landing legs, liftgate, evaporator, and Federal Annual Inspection.
- Independently Inspect brake shoes & drums; under supervision replace brake shoes & drums
- Inspect and diagnose tire issues
- Remove and replace tires
- Performing basic soldering and welding skills
- Using air-powered equipment when necessary
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment including the facilities and service vehicles
- Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
- Work environment will vary with temperature
- Primarily in a shop environment with occasional outdoor work
- Tuesday - Saturday
- 1:00pm - 9:30pm
- $25 - $27 per hour
- $3 shift differential
- Preferred:
One (1) years technical experience – Automotive or Industrial Equipment - Preferred:
Federal Annual Inspection Certificate 40 CFR pt.396.19 & Brake Inspection Certificate 49 CFR pt. 396.25 - Own and Maintain up to date tools of the trade
- Preferred:
Proficiency in English (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with associates and leadership
- Physical abilities :
May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head;
Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift - Strong communication

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis - Organizational
Skills:
Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines - Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality
