Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Summary
Responsible for maintenance, repair, and/or overhaul of industrial production and plant equipment (e.g., machine tools, fabricating machines, welding and processing equipment) under the guidance and supervision of the Facilities Lead / EHS Coordinator. Responsible for maintenance activity through the implementation of a preventative maintenance program and an ongoing maintenance repair program for the facility.
Responsibilities- Maintenance of building, machinery and grounds and procurement of necessary materials.
- Inspect and operate forklifts.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical control problems and determine method of repair or replacement.
- Install electrical conduit, wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors and other such equipment.
- Inspect equipment to determine reasons for malfunction and take corrective action. Replace worn or broken parts. Disassemble, troubleshoot, clean/repair mechanical unit parts.
- Plan work operations/methods to be used. Install plant production equipment including aligning, leveling, etc.
- Work from complex blueprints, drawings, sketches, schematics and manufacturing specs.
- Setup and operate machine tools and equipment necessary to fabricate new parts or rework.
- Perform functional tests of installed, rebuilt, or repaired machines/equipment. Make necessary adjustments. Check capacity, accuracy and performance.
- Perform incidental welding/metal when required.
- Perform safety inspections related to guarding, hazardous chemicals and job safety analysis. Handle hazardous wastes.
- Test, maintain and evaluate equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers and pressure gauges.
- Check and repair pumps, fans, valves and motors.
- Adjust, repair, and replace electrical and electronic pneumatic relays.
- Perform related work as required.
High School degree or equivalent. Familiarity with boilers, air compressors, heating and air conditioners, plumbing, welding, carpentry, electrical/electronic equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics and heavy manufacturing equipment. Ability to effectively apply continuous improvement methods and techniques. Ability to help maintain a Preventative Maintenance Plan. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved. Ability to work on a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of the situation or data requires thorough identification of factors and analysis of impact.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies and recommend changes to procedures. Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management. Ability to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs and adjustments.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.
Compensation- Pay Range: $30.75/hr to $47/hr
