The Quonset Point Facilities Engineering department is seeking a Civil Engineer to provide maintenance and troubleshooting support for the Quonset Point facility and local sites, as well as designing and executing infrastructure construction projects.
ResponsibilitiesProject management responsibilities include engineering and developing the scope of work, preparing bid documents, vendor selection, securing funding, preparing purchase requisitions, in‑field project management of vendors and EB personnel, and performing structural assessments. This role will connect to the EB Critical Facilities Oversight group and will encompass reporting and governance for the Quonset Point facility. Additional duties include scheduling routine upkeep, troubleshooting issues, managing projects, ensuring compliance with codes, and supervising the building, repair, or renovation of structures.
The role also requires conducting regular assessments of structures and site conditions. The candidate will interface with local city building officials as well as Naval oversight. The position requires self-motivation, ability to work independently, strong written and oral communication skills, a questioning attitude, and technical proficiency with a willingness to continuously learn. The candidate must maintain the highest Safety standards, preferably with an existing OSHA Certification, and be available to work overtime including emergent situations, extended hours and weekends, and during severe weather events when required.
Required:
- Bachelor of Science or Higher in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- 5+ years of post graduate experience with Civil Engineering
Preferred:
- 3+ years of experience with Structural Analysis & Design
- 3+ years experience maintaining transportation infrastructure (Roads, Docks, Piers, Lifting Pads, Foundations)
- Self-motivating
- Able to work independently
- Possess excellent written and oral communications skills
- Maintain a questioning attitude
- Be proficient technically with a willingness to continuously learn
