Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Shipbuilding Estimator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for analyzing and completing shipyard bids, as well as identifying new business opportunities. Your expertise will ensure accurate cost and time estimations for various projects, contributing directly to the growth and success of the shipyard. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex marine projects and collaborate with industry professionals.
Responsibilities- Analyze customer specifications, technical data, and drawings thoroughly to prepare detailed bids.
- Identify and communicate all special requirements and project-specific details.
- Seek new project opportunities for the shipyard, including travel to customer facilities and vessels.
- Complete comprehensive cost and time estimations for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure bid accuracy and completeness.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing workloads effectively.
- Maintain proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding marine classification society rules, USCG, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business development and project execution.
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in a relevant field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of marine and engineering experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- General knowledge of a wide range of commercial marine vessels.
- Understanding of marine classification society rules, USCG, and other regulatory standards.
Additional desirable skills include experience in business development and familiarity with shipyard bid processes. Candidates should be prepared to travel as needed for project assessments and client meetings.
