Job Description
The Laboratory Technician I uses general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supporting laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Full‑time entry level position Monday - Friday 12:30pm‑9:00pm. Candidates living within a commutable distance of North Kingstown, RI are encouraged to apply. Compensation $18‑20/hour (depends on experience) plus eligible for benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Retrieving samples from Sample Control for analysis.
- Performing sample preparation, including but not limited to:
Aliquot samples, spike and trace samples, prepare reagents, bottle samples, prepare concentrations, separation, sonication, preparing water on soil samples for metals analysis. - Performing digestions with concentrated acids.
- Learning the Eurofins Laboratory Information Management System.
- Learning the Mercury Analysis.
- Liquid rack set up.
- Resolving discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.
- Preparing general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks.
- Washing laboratory glassware to prepare for next day’s samples.
- Stocking laboratory supplies.
- Cleaning work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assisting other laboratory areas as needed.
- Comfortable with a fast paced, time‑sensitive laboratory.
- Ability to use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts.
- Ability to use TALS.
- Ability to complete work within time and quality constraints.
- Can work independently following written or verbal instructions.
- Cooperates and coordinates both orally and in writing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- High school Chemistry coursework preferred.
- Basic laboratory experience preferred.
- Previous production‑oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Samples will be in coolers packed in ice.
- Professional working proficiency in English is required, including reading, writing and speaking.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
