Lab Tech / Assistant
The Laboratory Technician I will support laboratory operations using general laboratory methods and equipment in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s quality assurance programs and standard operating procedures. This entry‑level position involves maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm (full‑time). Candidates living within a commutable distance of North Kingstown, RI are encouraged to apply. Compensation ranges from $18‑20 per hour depending on experience and may be eligible for benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Retrieving samples from Sample Control for analysis.
- Performing sample preparation, which may include the following methods: aliquot samples, spike and trace samples, prepare reagents, bottle samples, prepare concentrations, separation, sonication, preparing water on soil samples for metals analysis, performing digestions with concentrated acids.
- Learning the Eurofins Laboratory Information Management System.
- Learning the Mercury Analysis protocols.
- Setting up liquid racks.
- Resolving discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.
- Preparing general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks.
- Washing laboratory glassware to prepare for next day’s samples.
- Stocking laboratory supplies.
- Cleaning work areas to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assisting other laboratory areas as needed.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, time sensitive laboratory.
- Ability to use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts.
- Ability to use TALS.
- Ability to complete work within time and quality constraints.
- Can work independently following written or verbal instructions.
- Cooperative and communicative both orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- High school chemistry coursework preferred.
- Basic laboratory experience preferred.
- Previous production‑oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; samples will be in coolers packed with ice.
- Professional working proficiency in English (read, write, speak).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
