Stage builders are trained personnel who construct and dismantle scaffolding in accordance with OSHA and Electric Boat policies to ensure safe access during construction phases. These tasks are often performed by teams using pneumatic and electric tools, forklifts, aerial lifts, telehandlers, and overhead cranes.
- Must qualify to wear fall protection when working at heights greater than five feet
- Must be able to lift and handle steel scaffolding, lumber including planks and plywood
- Must possess basic math skills and perform measurements and layouts
- Must qualify to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial lifts
- Ability to work collaboratively or independently
- Ability to follow directions and meet daily goals
This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
QualificationsRequired:
- High school diploma or equivalent OR at least 2 years of relevant technical experience
- Valid driver's license
- Experience in carpentry, stage building, or construction
- Ability to work in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and at heights
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding
- Ability to push and pull regularly
- Ability to read scaffolding drawings and follow safety procedures
- Availability to work all shifts, including extended hours and weekends
- Willingness to complete QP safety harness training and wear safety harnesses
- Own basic hand tools
Preferred:
- Over 3 years' experience in carpentry or stage building
- Experience operating forklifts, cranes, and lifts
- Experience with fall protection and scaffolding systems
- Background in construction, manufacturing, or related trades
- Vocational, technical, or community college training, or apprenticeships
- Military or Navy experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
