Job DescriptionThe Seasonal Peak Associate role in the Distribution Center (“DC”) at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL”) is a seasonal position responsible for performing a variety of DC functions based on business needs, including induction, palletizing, recovery and splitting. This role may physically sort and distribute cases of merchandise onto store pallets in accordance with OSJL’s standard operating procedures to achieve the productivity, safety and quality standards established by the Company.
The Seasonal Peak Associate sorts products into cartons and re‑packs, re‑tickets, and re‑works assorted products as directed. Additional responsibilities may include breaking down pallets from stores and organizing pallets into specific storage areas for further re‑work as well as processing defective products, returns, and recyclables as required.
- Perform all recovery, shipping, picking and special projects functions accurately, productively, and safely.
- Operate an RF scanning device and assign/remove pallets in and out of split lines.
- Operate manual and electric pallet jacks, walk‑behind and rider jacks, and walkie‑40 equipment.
- Distinguish, sort and distribute different kinds of merchandise.
- Verify case‑packs and descriptions.
- Build shippable pallets and operate the wrapping machine safely and efficiently.
- Break down returned pallets and organize into designated areas.
- Perform batching and zone induction picking tasks.
- Maintain a neat, orderly and clean workspace to meet or exceed area safety, quality and productivity standards.
- Adhere to the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures, policies and applicable state and federal regulations, including OSHA.
- Inspect and sign‑out equipment daily according to procedures.
- Complete position‑specific training and pass required tests (Powered Industrial Equipment training and licensing, Area Proficiency).
- Safely and effectively operate walk‑behind, rider jacks, sweepers or battery equipment as required.
- Learn to use RF scanning devices.
- Base math and English reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication.
- Effective communication to build trust and respect.

- Time management: handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Self‑motivated: work with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks proactively.

- Work primarily in a distribution center – remain stationary and move continuously for 10‑12 hours per day.
- Perform physical activities including using equipment, positioning yourself to complete tasks, ascending/descending ramps and stairs, and transporting merchandise; lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Distribution warehouse environment includes temperature extremes, noise, conveyors and equipment movement.
