Part - Time Senator - Extension Campuses - ASCSN - FY

Job Description

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Extension Campus Senator promotes student life and initiatives at extension sites. Responsibilities include office duties, program administration, surveys, and engagement with the student population. Senators attend required workshops and student development trainings.

• Serve on at least one ASCSN Standing Committee and two ASCSN Ad-hoc Committees.
• Approve by‑law legislation proposed by the ASCSN By‑law and Constitution Committee after a two‑thirds majority vote of the Senate.
• Pass financial funding items with a simple majority vote in scheduled Senate meetings.
• Override a presidential veto with a two‑thirds supermajority vote of the Senate.
• Commit at least 12 hours per week (excluding committee meetings) to senatorial programs, student assistance, and campus representation during class sessions.
• Allocate up to one‑third of weekly hours to events held by ASCSN.
• Deliver a brief presentation in one class each month to discuss ASCSN Student Government, timed by the class instructor.
• Dedicate two working hours per week to promote ASCSN Student Government and events, with prior approval from an ASCSN Executive Board member.
• Spend remaining hours on committee assignments.
• Report non‑feasance items, recommend dismissals, and submit findings to the Grievance Committee and Judicial Board.
• Recommend sanctions or removal of Senate members following Senate vote.
• Be removed from Senate after three unexcused absences from Senate or Committee meetings within a semester.
• Submit a statement of interests at the start of each term and keep it current.
• Submit proof of enrollment (minimum six credits) each semester.
• Uphold CSN and ASCSN conduct codes and governing documents.

• Enrolled in at least six credit hours each semester at the applicable CSN campus.
• Maintain semester GPA of 2.25 or higher.
• Maintain cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher.

Hourly rate: $12.95. Exempt position. Full‑time equivalent: 48.8%. In‑person training required during specified summer and spring sessions.
