About the Role
The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as the Dean of the School of Business, Hospitality and Public Services.
The Dean will serve as the senior academic leader for the School, overseeing four academic departments:
Accounting & Finance, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and Hospitality Management.
With a faculty and staff of nearly 200 full‑time and part‑time members, the Dean will ensure academic excellence, faculty and staff oversight, community representation, financial stewardship, and student success.
Key Responsibilities- Provide visionary leadership in curriculum development, program review, and strategic planning across accounting, business, hospitality, culinary, and criminal justice disciplines.
- Provide executive oversight of Russell’s Restaurant, ensuring operational excellence, fiscal responsibility, and student learning integration.
- Support and coordinate institutional leadership responsibilities related to the Southern Nevada Regional Police Academy in partnership with local law‑enforcement agencies.
- Ensure alignment of programs with workforce needs, regional economic priorities, and transfer articulation agreements.
- Ensure annual assessment of student learning outcomes and curricular review at course, program, and institutional levels.
- Strengthen partnerships with industry leaders, hospitality enterprises, chambers of commerce, economic development agencies, public sector organizations, and public safety agencies.
- Manage budgetary planning and fiscal operations, including state funds, revenue, grants, and philanthropic contributions.
- Support grant development, workforce training contracts, and industry‑sponsored initiatives.
- Oversee personnel recommendations for faculty hiring, evaluation, tenure, Grievance review, discipline, and collective bargaining compliance.
- Ensure high‑quality delivery of in‑person, hybrid, online, accelerated, and alternative instructional modalities.
- Lead development and execution of the School’s Academic Master Plan in alignment with CSN’s Strategic Plans.
- Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field offered within the School or consistent with the duties (e.g., Higher Education Leadership, Business Administration, Public Administration).
- Six (6) years of full‑time experience at a higher education institution, including at least two years of full‑time teaching at the post‑secondary level in a discipline offered at CSN.
- Three (3) years of experience in an academic leadership and/or supervisory role in higher education.
- Doctorate Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Experience working in a multi‑site community college.
- Experience developing, evaluating, and expanding programs that meet workforce and industry needs or lead to transferable credentials.
- Experience in distance‑education or alternative instructional delivery.
- Experience with grant writing and grant‑fund management.
- Experience promoting diversity, multiculturalism, equity, inclusion, belonging, and internationalism in a community‑college environment.
- Experience in student‑learning‑outcome assessment and data‑informed program review, including budget management.
- Experience successfully collaborating with stakeholders to create a positive work and learning environment.
- Experience with accreditation processes and requirements in the post‑secondary environment.
- Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
- Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Expertise in curriculum development and revision, particularly in stackable credentials.
- Proficiency in assessing student learning outcomes and using data for decision‑making.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- High emotional intelligence, ethical decision‑making, and sound judgment.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses and industry leaders.
- Ability to use data‑driven assessment for program improvement.
