Abacus Solutions Group is looking for a Warehouse Design Specialist for an immediate contract position in the North Las Vegas area.
OverviewThe Design Specialist is responsible for creating accurate, scalable, and operationally optimized facility layouts for distribution centers and warehouse environments. This role supports new facility launches, automation implementation, labor modeling, slotting optimization and continuous improvement initiatives by producing technical drawing and 3D visualizations that drive execution. This Position plays a critical role in translating operational strategy into executable floor plans and engineered layouts across a multisite network.
Responsibilities- Develop detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for warehouse including rack layouts, conveyor systems, automation, pick modules and office/support areas
- Create 3D models in Sketch Up for stakeholder visualization and executive presentations
- Maintain master facility drawings with version control
- Maintain drawing standards and templates, ensuring accurate scaling and dimensioning
- Support capacity modeling
- Assist in labor modeling tied to layout configurations
- Ensure compliance with fire code and local building standards
- Support site due diligence (column spacing analysis, dock door layout, clear height)
- Assist in building acquisition layout feasibility studies
- Produce bid drawings for vendors and contractors
- Produce PDF, DWG and presentation-ready files
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred.
- 3+ years experience in AutoCAD
- 2+ years experience in Sketch Up
- Experience designing warehouses, distribution center, or industrial environments
- Strong understanding of rack systems, aisle spacing standards, flue space requirements, material handling systems
- Knowledge of fire code and building compliance standards
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering specifications
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), automation technologies, robotics, and material handling equipment.
- Strong spatial reasoning
- High attention to dimensional accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft excel & basic data analysis
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
