CNLV Police Department appearance policy prohibits tattoos on the hands, face, neck, and head, including behind the ear. The only exception is a simple wedding band on the ring finger. Pay ConsiderationsThe starting hourly pay for this position is $35.86. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining.
Work ScheduleThis position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36 hour work week) Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm. This position may be required to work various shifts; emergency call outs; possible required overtime.
THE ROLEUnder general supervision, performs skilled and complex communications work involving the installation, repair, and maintenance of the City’s radio microwave, video, and other electronic and mechanical systems/equipment utilized to support communication operations. Responsible for operating and maintaining the City’s Mobile Command Center (MCC), ensuring all communication and equipment systems are functional and ready for deployment.
Four (4) years of professional work experience in two-way radio technology industry within the last six (6) years, and must have completed one of the following methods of formal training in electronics:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Electronics, or a closely related field; or Electronics certification from an accredited technical school; or Radio communications or electronics training through the U.S. Military and has completed three (3) years of active-duty service in an electronics focused role.
Equivalency:
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training in radio communications may be considered for formal training. The City assesses one (1) year of full-time work experience as equivalent to one (1) year of education.
Motorola XTS/XTL, APX series radios, and Motorola MCC 7500 console systems experience is preferred.
Microwave experience is preferred.
Licenses and CertificationsMust possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Class “A” or “B” Nevada Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsements within twelve (12) months of hire and must maintain for duration of employment in this classification. The CDL license must not have any restrictions that would prohibit the operator from interstate operations.
Must possess a valid Amateur Radio License, Technician Class or higher within twelve (12) months of date of hire and maintain for duration of employment in this classification.
FCC General Radio Telephone Operators License is preferred.
Certified Electronics Technician certification from International Society of Certified Electronics Technician (ISCET) or Electronics Technician Association (ETA) is preferred.
Current CCW permit is preferred.
