OverviewOmega Technical Services is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support the Engineering Division and providing fire protection programmatic implementation support at various NNSS and North Las Vegas facilities. Deliverables include fire protection assessments, fire hazards analysis, fire risk assessments, preparing equivalencies & exemptions, design reviews, procedure reviews, life safety code analysis, system walk-downs, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Conduct construction document reviews as required.
- Generation of Facility Hazard Analysis (FHA) documents, modifications to existing FHA documents, facility FP assessments, exemption and equivalency requests, detailed FP design, and calculation of various FP systems including pre-action, wet pipe and dry pipe systems, and review of FP packages and contractor submittals.
- Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or similar accredited engineering B.S., minimum 5 years of practical related engineering practice, 6 years of which will have been in charge of diverse fire protection engineering design/construction work.
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III (Water Based Layout) Certification acceptable in lieu of B.S. in Engineering.
- Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to fire protection design.
- Familiarity with Micro Station computer aided drafting applications is required.
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
- Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred.
- Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week).
