• Lead, design, develop, characterize, and field diagnostic systems for weapons physics experiments at the NNSS.
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment such as interferometers, optical imaging systems, oscilloscopes, lasers, function generators, delay generators, fiber‑optic inspection equipment, and optical time‑domain reflectometers.
• Support execution of program and project activities, including data collection for classified systems and diagnostics.
• Research, refine, and develop new diagnostic technologies to improve data fidelity.
• Serve as a technical mentor to junior team members.
• Coordinate with peers across disciplines to ensure project compliance and execution.
• Conduct technical data analysis, compile reports, graphs, proposals, studies, and other documentation.
• Assist in preliminary engineering analysis, conceptual design, and engineering calculations.
• Review and revise technical documents and drafting assignments.
• Participate in long‑term scheduling meetings to prioritize and deconflict experimental activities.
• Manage work packages, budgeting, and maintain the NNSS diagnostic fielding budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with at least 5 years of relevant experience; graduate research experience may be considered.
• Experience in image and signal processing.
• Leadership experience with high‑performance technical teams is a plus.
• Experience in planning, preparing, and managing a budget is a plus.
• Proficiency with data analysis or engineering software such as MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, Solid Works, or Creo is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Capability to work underground.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Motivation, self‑starter, and strong work ethic.
• Occasional travel required.
• Primary work location:
  Nevada National Security Site (65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
• Work schedule:
  
  4/10 rotations, Monday‑Thursday (subject to change).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Pre‑placement physical examination, including drug screening, is required.

The position requires a DOE Q‑level security clearance, involving background and employment verification, drug screening, and reference checks. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, and must maintain clearance throughout employment.
