Key Responsibilities
● Prototyping:
Design, develop and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices for UAVs.
● Additive Manufacturing:
Run Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Digital Light Processing (DLP) printers.
● Subtractive Manufacturing:
Ability to run CNC machinery with proficiency
● Radio Frequency:
Custom build and optimize antennas for frequencies of interest. Form factor antennas to fit irregular objects.
● Electronics:
Integrate electronics on UAVs, ability to solder to the J-STED-001 & J-STD-001S Standard (including micro soldering). Design Printed Control Boards (PCB) and run PCB mills.
● Composite Fabrication:
Perform wet and pre impregnated layups with carbon fiber, fiberglass and kevlar fabrics. Use vacuum systems and autoclave ovens following all safety protocols.
● Testing and Evaluation:
Prepare required flight test equipment (e.g. wire bundles, sensors, strain gauges) to perform functional or environmental tests on production and/or experimental aircraft. Participate in product testing using high pressure test equipment.
● Operational Testing and Performance:
Assist with operational planning. Operate equipment overseas in an austere environment by conducting pre-flight tests, download and analyze post flight data. Document successful flights as well as document and problem solve flight failures.
● Compliance and Regulation:
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner (in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) using personal protective equipment as required. Ability to utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and electrostatic discharge (ESD) techniques for all assigned tasks
● Documentation:
Document aeronautical and electronic design and components research, collect and analyze radio frequencies in testing and performance environments.

Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with management, engineers and technicians in a dynamic and fast paced team environment to achieve project goals and timelines. Qualifications
● 10+ years experience in an electronics engineering career field
● 10+ years documented operational experience testing and performing in austere environments
● Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) Solid Works and GrabCAD, CNC Pattern Smith and CNC Aspire.
● 5+ years experience in FDM printing equipment and material and industrial CNC machinery
● 5+ years composite fabrication
● Ability to deploy and execute extended operations overseas (60+ days).
● Proven track record of advance problem-solving Preferred Skills
● Interagency communication experience
● Foreign embassy experience
● Ability to teach and work with partner forces
● Experience operating in permissive, semi permissive and non-permissive environments
