Data Center Operations Technician

Job Description

Data Center Operations Technician I is a 24x7x365, market-based position responsible for providing physical and Level II technical support to Flexential customers and resources. A solid understanding of Facilities infrastructure, Windows operating systems, PC troubleshooting and management applications is required. Data Center Operations Technician I must be able to represent Flexential both professionally and technically during interactions with customers and internal resources in a calm and professional manner.

• Provide timely resolution and/or escalation of Facility and customer issues.
• Maintain a professional attitude and conduct while performing data center duties.
• Troubleshoot and document technical issues using Flexential ticketing system.
• Follow Flexential Support and Data Center policies, processes, and procedures.
• Provide local access and escort for vendors and carriers.
• Perform remote hands work for internal and external customers.
• Flexibility to support 24 / 7 operations with ability to work any shift in a 24x7x365 environment.
• Assist and/or complete physical and logical installations of Flexential services.
• Maintain cleanliness of the Data Center and surrounding supporting areas.
• Perform Facilities Rounds and escalate pertinent information.
• Process all inbound and outbound shipping/receiving for Customer and Flexential Deliveries.
• Operate and manage Badge Access Security System.
• Assist Data Center Manager (DCM) on an as needed basis.
• Work with local management to maintain cabling and general usage item inventory levels.
• Perform other duties as required and assigned.

• Passion for providing a great customer experience.
• Understanding of Windows and Microsoft Operating systems.
• Must be a self-starter and motivated.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong attention to detail, making and keeping commitments and meeting deadlines.
• Prefer 1 year of experience working within an IT Support environment.
• AA, BS, or High School Diploma.
• Network+, Security+ and/or CCNA desired.
• Microsoft MCP or MCSA preferred.

• Ability to climb ladders and work aloft.
• Ability to work in cold temperature environments.
• Ability to maneuver pallet jacks and lift heavy objects.
• Ability to pull and install cabling.
