Job Title:
Racker, Blaster, Quality Control Technician
Schedule & Compensation
- Pay Rate: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour, based on experience.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, Full-Time.
- Shift: Afternoon shift (approximately 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM or 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM).
- Training: Training is provided for candidates new to the racking/anodizing process.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Racker, Blaster, Quality Control Technician to join our clients anodizing team. This individual is responsible for preparing, racking, treating, and inspecting metal parts to ensure they meet high quality standards before and after the anodizing process. The role requires working hands-on with metal parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, using specialized equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Racking & Blasting
- Racking: Properly set up, secure, and organize metal parts on racking machines for processing. Ensure efficient racking to maximize throughput while preventing contact that may lead to defects.
- Surface Preparation: Operate blasting equipment (including plastic blast machines) to clean and prepare surfaces of metal parts before anodizing. Perform surface treatment to ensure uniform texture and finish.
- Equipment Maintenance: Regularly maintain blasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Tank Operations: Hang and remove parts in anodizing tanks according to procedures.
- Finishing: Dry and inspect parts upon removal; use soft cloths to remove any blemishes to ensure a clean finish.
- Packaging: Package completed parts for shipment to customers.
- Inspection: Conduct inspections on incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished products. Use inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to measure part specifications and finish quality.
- Documentation: Document and report any defects, variances, or quality concerns to management.
- Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives by suggesting and implementing quality control best practices.
- Protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Housekeeping: Keep a clean and organized workspace to minimize risks of accidents or contamination.
- Hazmat Handling: Handle chemicals, blasting materials, and equipment safely and responsibly.
Experience & Education
- Preferred Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, metal finishing, or anodizing environment is preferred.
- Entry Level: While experience is preferred, training is provided for candidates willing to learn.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of anodizing processes and metal surface treatments is a plus. Familiarity with reading blueprints and understanding part specifications is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and quality is required to identify defects and ensure standards are met.
- Reliability: Punctuality and reliability are essential for this role.
- Teamwork: Willingness to work harmoniously as part of a team.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Stamina: Must be able to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Environment: This is an indoor anodizing shop setting. The role involves exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals.
