Overview
Location: 1849 Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas, NV. 89030
Pay: $72,000 - $115,000 per year
Primary Function: A Major Gifts Officer oversees major fundraising drives for organizations, managing everything from planning and prospect identification (individuals, corporations, foundations) to donor cultivation, event logistics, communication, and tracking progress toward multi-year goals, reporting to leadership, and ensuring smooth execution with volunteers and staff. They act as the central coordinator, handling timelines, strategies, materials (including proposals and acknowledgments), and data (utilizing CRM tools), which requires strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills for large-scale, time-sensitive projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement overall campaign plans, manage phases (quiet, major gifts, and public), oversee timelines, and report progress every month.
- Identify, research, and qualify major donors, corporations, and foundations; manage prospect pipelines and moves management.
- Plan cultivation events, coordinate donor meetings, prepare briefing materials, and oversee acknowledgments.
- Write proposals, create presentations, and collaborate with the Marketing Manager on designing campaign materials to ensure the brand is accurate and consistent with Neighborhood Housing Services mission and vision.
- Recruit, train, and support campaign volunteers and steering committees; coordinate with development teams.
- Plan and execute campaign-related events (kick-offs, recognition, celebrations).
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the President/CEO.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven success in nonprofit development, ideally with capital campaigns and major gift fundraising.
- Excellent project management, writing, communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, strategic, diplomatic, resourceful, and able to work collaboratively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with donor databases (e.g., Neon One) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or three (3-5) years of experience in business administration and/or nonprofit work.
- Knowledge and experience in designing and implementing successful capital campaigns, as well as in marketing, advertising, and public relations strategies.
- Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with demonstrated work experience in projects with time-sensitive deadlines.
- Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel out of town and out of state for training opportunities, as needed.
- Commitment to the mission and goals of NHSSN.
Reports directly to the President/CEO. Works closely with the management team and staff.
Physical & Work ConditionsPhysical Effort:
Requires the ability to exert some physical effort, such as walking, standing, and light lifting; minimal skill in the use of fingers, limbs, and body in the operation of office equipment. Requires extended periods of time at a computer terminal.
Office
Hours:
Four-day work week, Monday through Thursday. Hours of operation: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm — one-half hour for a lunch break. This is a Full-time position. 40 hours per week and may require evening and/or weekend work to complete specific projects or reporting requirements.
Salary Range: $72k - $115k
Medical coverage is paid for the employee. Family coverage available – paid by the employee.
$25,000 Term Life Insurance Policy paid for the employee.
Upon completion of 90 days of probation, the employee receives the following:
- Less than 1 Year - 100 hours PTO (40 hours Vacation, 40 hours Sick, and 2 Float Days). Vacation leave is accessible only after completing the probationary period.
- 1 to 5 Years - 140 hours PTO (80 hours Vacation, 40 hours Sick, and 2 Float Days)
- More than 5 Years - 200 hours PTO (140 hours Vacation, 40 hours Sick, and 2 Float Days)
- Eight paid holidays per year
Paid training for Neighbor Works Training Institute, as required or assigned.
