We have a new opening for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - CRNA at Nellis Air Force Base in North Las Vegas, NV.
Duties- Independently (without physician supervision) manage patient anesthesia experience, perform preoperative evaluations and preparations, administer monitored anesthesia care, regional, general and neuraxial anesthesia, monitor and manage patient reactions anesthesia and surgery, manage fluid therapy, perform and manage invasive monitoring, and perform post-operative evaluations as privileged by the facility Credentials Committee.
- Perform a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, obtaining informed consent, requesting consultations and/or diagnostic studies and ordering pre-anesthetic medications.
- Perform an assessment immediately prior to induction of anesthesia, including a review of the medical record, completion of pertinent laboratory data, documentation of pre-anesthesia medication timing and dosage, and appraisal of any changes in the patient’s condition since previous visits. Note previous anesthetic experiences and complications.
- Maintain the patient’s physiologic homeostasis and correct abnormal responses to the anesthesia and/or surgery.
- Collect and interpret patient physiological data using noninvasive monitoring modalities.
- Manage the patient’s airway and pulmonary function.
- Manage the patient’s emergence and recovery from anesthesia by maintaining homeostasis, providing relief from pain and anesthesia side effects, and preventing and managing complications through selection, administration, and monitoring of medications, fluids, or ventilator support.
- Record all pertinent events during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, including dosage and duration of all anesthetic agents, other drugs, intravenous fluids, and blood or blood components for all patients receiving anesthesia care.
- Record post‑anesthetic visits, including at least one note describing the presence or absence of anesthesia‑related complications of the procedure.
- Provide patients with utmost care and attention, ensuring privacy and personal dignity.
- Present a professional, conservative, and neat appearance; report for duty in appropriate attire and maintain socially acceptable personal hygiene standards.
- Arrive before the first case to be on time (e.g., in the OR room at 7:30 a.m.); remain flexible to complete the duty day within 15 minutes before or after the scheduled end time (3:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. for 4‑day/10‑hour shift schedules).
- Ensure all contract employees participate in the facility orientation procedures for newly assigned medical employees, including regulations specific to their professional specialty, hospital and facility policy and procedures. Training includes in‑processing and out‑processing, MHS Genesis, Joint Legacy Viewer, or job‑specific data training as required by the 99th Medical Group.
- Abide by medical staff bylaws upon acceptance of privileges.
The medical center is a 24‑hour, 7‑day a week, inpatient treatment facility.
Shift Structure:
Daily shifts begin at 6:30 a.m. and are assigned as 8, 10, or 12‑hour durations to meet variable surgical and patient care demands. All shifts include a minimum of a 30‑minute uncompensated lunch break.
Schedule Management:
The specific shift assignment is determined by the Government supervisor.
Degree:
Possess a Masters or Doctorate degree in nursing. Graduate from an academic program approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA).
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of active practice as a CRNA, current within the last 6 months of application; practice must have included cases specifically in General Anesthesia and Obstetric (Neuraxial) Anesthesia.
Licensure:
Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse and CRNA license from any state.
Board Certification:
Current Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the National Board for Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA), and a current state (any state in the U.S.) Registered Nursing (RN) license and CRNA license.
