ResponsibilitiesJOB SUMMARY:
The Food Safety Coordinator maintains the documentation critical for the Quality Systems, HACCP and Food Safety Plans and SQF Programs throughout the North Las Vegas facility. This position is also the back up for the Food Safety Quality Manager and assists with verifying that programs are being executed properly and develops and conducts training programs.
This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:- Review and maintain the routine paperwork related to the Quality, Regulatory, SPC, Food Safety / HACCP Plan, Sanitation, SQF Audit, and customer specific documentation.
- Be an active member of the HACCP / Food Safety team. Perform and co-lead the internal audits program.
- Monitor and update Corrective Action Database.
- Assist with developing and conducting training programs for employees related to HACCP, SQF, GMP’s, etc.
- Review and create SOP’s and SSOP’s working closely with plant quality and sanitation teams.
- Fill in for Food Safety Quality Manager and QA Techs when needed.
- Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
- Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality
- Participate in safety element (SRMP) for the purpose of loss control.
- Back up to QA Techs and Food Safety Quality Manager as needed.
- Required to work off shifts (Sanitation hours), weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:Two (2) years experience in a food processing environment
LANGUAGESKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICALSKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar
graphs. Basic understanding of statistical process control.
REASONING ABILITY:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to
interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with
several abstract and concrete variables.
