This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Land Development department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

Essential Information

• Pay Considerations – The hourly range pay for this position is $41.43 – $59.19. Starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
• Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week). Must be able to work any shift or days of the week.

    There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

    Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, walking, and working on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions:
    One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin:
    Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing the essential functions of the position.

The Role

Under general supervision, conducts detailed inspections of electrical systems in building construction and renovation in progress and upon completion to verify continuous compliance with approved plans, specifications and applicable codes and ordinances specializing in electrical inspections. Performs inspections, investigates and analyzes problems and recommends solutions for modifications and repairs to existing complex systems, ensuring safety and compliance, and provides guidance to contractors, builders, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent; and
• Five (5) years of practical level experience as a Master Electrician.
• OSHA 10 Hour Construction must be obtained within fifteen (15) days of date of hire.
• Equivalency:
  Nine (9) years of journey level experience as a Journeyman Electrician with Journeyman Electrician Certificate issued by a recognized public agency as determined by the Building Official may be substituted for the education and experience required above.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector at the time of hire.
• Electrical Plans Examiner certification within one (1) year of hire/reclassification.
• Commercial Combination Inspector Certifications in Building, Plumbing, and Mechanical within (2) two years of hire/reclassification.
• Possession of a Master Electrician Certificate issued by a recognized public agency as determined by the Building Official.
